چکیده

31 Recently, Aharonov, Anandan and Vaidman [1,2] showed t hat the wavefunction of a si ngle quantum system could be determined from t he resu lts of a series of "protective measurements" performed on the system. In t he protective measurement scheme, a-prio ri knowledge of the wavefundion of the system is used in order to measure t his system and protect its wavefunction from changing at the same time. Aharonov I Anandan and Vaidman argued that the protective measurement accounts for the physical reality of the wavefun ction. Yet, it seems thai one shou ld be able to measu re the wavefundion of a single system without any arprior i knowledge, if the wavefunction were rea l. According to the projection postulate, a precise measurement of a single system would always yield one of the eigenvalues of the measured observable. This eigenvalue can be used to estimate the expectation value of the observable. The uncertainty of t he measured observable could never be estimated using the sin gle measw'ement result. This uncertainty cannot be estimated even if we use the results of ad ditional measurements of t he si ngle system. After the measurement, the wavefunction of the system coll apses to the eigenstate, which corres ponds to the measured eigenvalue, and the results of additional measurements would not add any information about the initial wavefundion of the system. No~, consider a very weak measurement of the si ngle system. This meas urement would leave the wavefu ndion of the system almost unchanged. Consecutive weak measurements of the same system, t herefore, would give us some addit ional in fo rmation about the initial wavefunction of t he system. Since t he meas ured system is approximately in the same state when the different measuremen ts are performed, one may expect the statistics of the measurement results to be approximately t he same as the results of an ensemble measurement, where a single measurement is performed on each system in an ensemble of identical systems. Specifically, one may expect the statistics of t hese meas urement resu lts to enable us to estimate the uncertainties of t he measured observables with finite estimate errors, where the abili ty to estimate the uncertainty of a specific observable di stinguis hes a measurement of the wavefunction from a measurement of the observable. In this work, we show that this intuitive picture …

Decoherence effects on quantum Fisher information of multi-qubit W states

Quantum fisher information of a parameter characterizing the sensitivity of a state with respect to parameter changes. In this paper, we study the quantum fisher information of the W state for four, five, six and seven particles in decoherence channels, such as amplitude damping, phase damping and depolarizing channel. Using Krauss operators for decoherence channels components, we investigate t...

Quantum Coherence, Correlated Noise and Parrondo Games

We discuss the effect of correlated noise on the robustness of quantum coherent phenomena. First we consider a simple, toy model to illustrate the effect of such correlations on the decoherence process. Then we show how decoherence rates can be suppressed using a Parrondo-like effect. Finally, we report the results of many-body calculations in which an experimentally-measurable quantum coherenc...

Coherence theory and coherence phenomena in a closed spin 1/2 system

We study a simplified Heisenberg spin model in order to clarify the idea of decoherence in closed quantum systems. For this purpose, we define a new concept: the coherence function Ξ(t), which describes the dynamics of coherence in the whole system, and which is linked with the total coarsegrained (von Neumann) entropy of all particles. We discuss in some detail a general coherence theory and i...

Payoffs and Coherence of a Quantum Two-Player Game in a Thermal Environment

A two-player quantum game is considered in the presence of a thermal decoherence modeled in terms of a rigorous Davies approach. It is shown how the energy dissipation and pure decoherence affect the payoffs of the players of the (quantum version) of prisoner dilemma. The impact of the thermal environment on a coherence of game, as a quantum system, is also presented.

Teleportation via an Entangled Coherent Channel and Decoherence Effect on This Channel

We study an entangled two-mode coherent state within the framework of2×2-dimensional Hilbert space. We investigate the problem of quantum teleportation ofa superposition coherent state via an entangled coherent channel. By three differentmeasures with the titles ``minimum assured fidelity (MASF)”, ``average teleportationfidelity” and ``optimal fidelity (f)” we study the ...

ct 2 00 1 Decoherence and robustness of parity dependent entanglement in the dynamics of a trapped ion

We study the entanglement between the 2D vibrational motion and two ground state hyperfine levels of a trapped ion, Under particular conditions this entanglement depends on the parity of the total initial vibrational quanta. We study the robustness of this quantum coherence effect with respect to the presence of non-dissipative sources of decoherence, and of an imperfect initial state preparation.
